HPPSC HPAS Recruitment 2026 notification has been released by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) for recruitment to various posts through the H.P. Administrative Service Combined Competitive Examination-2026. The official advertisement is Advertisement No. 59/8-2026, dated 26 August 2026. The last date to submit the online application and examination fee is 22 September 2026, up to 11:59 PM.

According to the current notification, 22 vacancies have been advertised across different departments. The vacancies include:

The Commission has also stated that the number of vacancies may increase or decrease depending on vacancies received from the Government up to the closing date.

HPPSC HPAS Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized university. Candidates who have appeared in a qualifying examination and whose result has not yet been declared may also be provisionally eligible, subject to the conditions specified in the notification.

Age Limit

As on 1 January 2026, candidates must:

• Be at least 21 years old
• Not have attained 35 years of age

Upper-age relaxation is available for eligible categories according to Himachal Pradesh Government rules. For certain H.P. Government employees, the upper age limit is higher as specified in the notification.

HPPSC HPAS Application Fee 2026

A uniform examination fee of ₹600 is prescribed for all candidates, irrespective of category. The fee can be paid online through the prescribed digital payment modes. The fee is non-refundable.

HPPSC HPAS Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of:

1. Preliminary Examination
2. Main Examination
3. Personality Test/Interview

Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not counted for final merit. Final ranking is based on the Main Examination and Personality Test, subject to the rules specified by HPPSC.

HPAS Preliminary Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers:

Paper I – General Studies

• 100 questions
• 200 marks
• Objective/MCQ type
• Duration: 2 hours

• Socio-economic development of Himachal Pradesh
• Current Affairs
• Indian History and National Movement
• Indian and World Geography

• General Science

Paper II – Aptitude Test

• 100 questions
• 200 marks
• Objective/MCQ type
• Duration: 2 hours

• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy
• Data interpretation
• English language comprehension

Candidates must appear in both Preliminary Examination papers.

HPPSC HPAS Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The Main Examination contains compulsory papers and one optional subject.

Compulsory Papers

The optional subject consists of two papers of 100 marks each.

Some optional subjects include History, Political Science & International Relations, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce & Accountancy, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Philosophy, Law, Sociology, Public Administration, Management, Geography, Agriculture, Engineering subjects, Hindi, Sanskrit, English Literature, Psychology, Physics, Forestry, Horticulture and Medical Sciences.

HPPSC HPAS Personality Test

Candidates qualifying the Main Examination are called for the Personality Test. The interview assesses areas such as mental alertness, critical thinking, judgment, logical expression, leadership qualities, social cohesion, current affairs and knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh.

Candidates should keep the following documents ready:

• Matriculation certificate for age proof
• Bachelor’s degree and marksheets
• Category certificate, wherever applicable
• Bonafide Himachali certificate for applicable reserved categories
• EWS/BPL certificate, wherever applicable
• Ex-Servicemen documents, wherever applicable
• Other certificates required according to the claimed category
